The Article 16 Clinic Does It Yet Again!

 

The Article 16 Clinic recently completed the recertification review conducted by the Division of Quality Assurance of OMRDD, without any regulatory deficiencies. This rare feat is the fourth triennial review in a row that the clinic has received. The clinic has repeatedly been commended by the reviewers for maintaining high standards of service delivery.

Originally established as a small unit in the early 90’s, the Clinic has grown to become one of the largest providers in New York State with a little over 60000 annual units. The catchment area of the Clinic spans from Poughkeepsie to the Hamptons providing an array of habilitative and rehabilitative services to over 1000 consumers in over 100 clinic sites. Leslie Verghese, LCSW-R serves as the Director of the unit with a seasoned administrative team including members such as Dr. Jim Normandy, Dr. Leonard Powell, Dr. Phil Hore, Ginny Knott RN, Gianna Acosta, LCSW-R, Claudette Coke LCSW-R, and Erin Trumble, LMSW. Along with them, a dedicated team of professionals ensures that the Clinic continues to provide the services to the underserved and deserving individuals, maintaining exceptional service delivery standards.

During the early years of this decade, the habilitative clinic service delivery mechanism in New York underwent a complete overhaul, which affected service providers, recipients and the governing bodies tremendously. In those chaotic times, Lifespire was able to prepare and implement a quality assurance mechanism with a special emphasis on ‘contract clinician oversight’ that caught the special attention of OMRDD as well as other agencies in the state. Many policies and procedural protocols were modeled after Lifespire’s Policy and Procedures Manual.

Currently the Clinic provides Individual Psychotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Psychiatry, Speech Therapy, Nutritional Counseling, Sexuality Counseling & Assessment, Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluations in different disciplines, and Group and Family Therapy.
