As October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we will be posting success stories on our website and Facebook page on how SEMP has helped individuals reach their life’s aspirations through supported employment.

We are proud to share this success story about a SEMP individual based in Queens.

With the Mets making it to the post-season playoffs, this October is particularly exciting for New York sports fans, none more than our own Dawan Atherley.

Through Aramark, Dawan was a fully-integrated member of the CitiField warehouse team, working alongside his colleagues to ensure that every stand in the stadium is fully-stocked before each home game.

The Aramark team at CitiField has proven to be like a second family for Dawan, ensuring that he is on the right path, without treating him any differently from any other employee.

Dawan is not a man of many words, but said that overall he is very satisfied with his experience at Lifespire, he likes his job and coworkers, and is looking forward to his next job after the baseball season is over.

The Lifespire Supported Employment Program (SEMP) helps individuals obtain competitive job opportunities and acquire the skills and assistance needed to succeed in their positions.
