Throughout its history, Lifespire has striven to educate others, fought discrimination, been a staunch advocate for the disabled and assisted individuals with developmental disabilities in living full and rewarding lives. What began in the late 1940’s as a small parent group advocating for their children with mental retardation has grown into a large, multifaceted organization serving several thousand adults with an array of disabilities as well as their families throughout the City of New York.
